Thanks to Assembly Bill AB 2011, Developer Thrive Living will be able to fast-track the new Baldwin Village Costco project at the site of the old five-acre AT&T building just east of La Brea Avenue at 5035 Coliseum Street. What make this project unique is the 800 apartment units that will be built above the new site - 184 of those units will be dedicated to low-income housing. The remaining units will be offered as non-subsidized affordable and workforce housing - all of which will be eligible for Section 8 vouchers.

I was invited to join members from my old neighborhood, along with Mayor Bass, Councilwoman Hutt, Jordan Brill (Costco), and Assemblymember Buffy Wicks who created this bill for this groundbreaking event.

This mixed-use retail housing project will feature 800 apartments and create thousands of new jobs. The new generation of carpenters union members were present at ceremony. This project has been a long time coming. Originally, announced two years ago. The Thrive team made sure the community was actively involved. This project will be a game changer for the community and  will create thousands of new jobs.
